The Pointman Pub at the Red Arrow VFW is named in honor of SSgt Jerry Van Den Berg, who bravely and selflessly walked “point” during patrols in Vietnam with 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st MarDiv. After returning home, he continued to walk point – from service in the community to Marine Corps League projects that made the Kalamazoo area a better place to live.
